The Cardigan Welsh Corgi is a high-spirited member of the Herding Group. Short in stature and moderately heavy boned, this breed can hold its own as an excellent cattle driver and with the speed and agility to keep up with the job. They have a long body (almost twice its height) and only weigh anywhere from 25 to 38 lbs, depending on the gender. The average height of the Cardigan is between ten and thirteen inches.
The temperament of the Cardigan Welsh Corgi can best be summed up as fun-loving, easy-going and friendly. They make the perfect pet for anyone that appreciates a mild-mannered dog in the home, but one that also enjoys vigorous games outside. They are easy to train and make excellent watchdogs. Cardigans are friendly towards other pets and humans, but reserved when strange dogs approach.
