Best Friends Animal Society is guided by a simple philosophy: kindness to animals builds a better world for all of us. Best Friends' No More Homeless Pets campaign created a new vision: A grassroots effort to place dogs and cats who were considered "inadaptable" into good homes, and to reduce the number of unwanted pets through effective spay and neuter programs.

Community Animal Welfare Society (CAWS) is a volunteer nonprofit organization. Our purpose is "Working with the Community to Help Animals". CAWS animals live in volunteer foster homes until they are adopted. We carefully screen all potential families, do follow-up calls and visits, and require the pet be returned to CAWS if the adopter is unable to keep it.

Euthanasia is an unfortunate reality in the animal services industry. The uncontrolled breeding of animals has led to a much larger animal population than the demand for pets can sustain. Despite our best efforts and those of other animal services organizations, there are simply not enough homes for all the animals, and many have to be put to sleep.

We rescue dogs from the pound and place them with loving foster families who care for them and ready them for adoption. When possible and for a fee we may also assist dog owners who need help in placing their own personal dogs.
