The main ingredients

Lamb is the first ingredient, which means this formula contains more lamb than any other ingredient. Although lamb is a quality ingredient, it contains about 80% moisture. cooking drives out the moisture, leaving just a small fraction of the original weight in the final produce. Therefore, it may actually account for a smaller part of the total content than reflected on the ingredients list.

The next ingredient is turkey meal. Turkey meal is a meat concentrate, and can provide up to four times the protein of turkey.

The third ingredient is chicken meal. Chicken meal is concentrated, and contains around 300% the protein of fresh chicken.

The fourth ingredient is sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are a gluten free source of carbohydrates, and are naturally rich in potassium, B Vitamins, dietary fiber, and beta carotene..

The fifth ingredient is chickpeas. Chickpeas, or Garbanzo Beans, are part of the fiber-rich legume family of vegetables, like peas and lentils. These beans also are a good source for lecithin, pottassium, and Vitamins A, B, and C.

Menhaden fish meal: Menhaden are small ocean fish, most closely related to the herring. This fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Since this is a meat concentrate, it contains 3 to 4 times the protein of manhaden alone.

Chelated minerals: Chelated minerals are those minerals that are chemically attached to protein, which makes them about 20% more readily absorbed. Chelated minerals are typically associated with higher quality dog foods.

Fermentation products: Fermentation products contain probiotics which will grow in the dogs digestive tract and assist in the digestion process.
