The main ingredients

Chicken is the first ingredient, which means this formula contains more chicken than any other ingredient. Chicken contains a lot of water (between 80 and 90%), which is lost during the cooking process, so after processing this chicken may actually represent a smaller part of the total content. Chicken is a good protein source, as well as containing Vitamin B6, Phosphorus, Niacin, and Selenium. Chicken also contains fatty acids

The next ingredient is menhaden fish meal. Menhaden are small ocean fish, most closely related to the herring. This fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Since this is a meat concentrate, it contains 3 to 4 times the protein of manhaden alone.

The third ingredient is lentils. Lentils are part of the legume family, and are a good carbohydrate source. They are also rich in natural fibers.

The fourth ingredient is peas. Peas provide a good supply of protein and dietary fiber. They also are a natural source for vitamins C and K. However, some dogs experience problems digesting peas because of the fibrous cellulose contained in the peas..

The fifth ingredient is potatoes. Potatoes are a good source of dietary fiber, vitamins B6 and C, as well as potassium and manganese.

Other ingredients of note in Canidae Grain Free Pure Foundations Dry Puppy Formula

Whole egg: Eggs are a great source of very digestible protein, riboflavin, and selenium. the shell from the whole egg is a great source of calcium to promote bone health.

Fermentation products: Fermentation products contain probiotics which will grow in the dogs digestive tract and assist in the digestion process.

Random Dog Quote

I sometimes look into the face of my dog Stan and see a wistful sadness and existential angst, when all he is actually doing is slowly scanning the ceiling for flies.
