The main ingredients

Bison is the first ingredient, which means this formula contains more bison than any other ingredient. Bison is similar to beef in nutrition, though it contains slightly less protein. Even though this is a quality dog food ingredient, like all raw meats, bison contains about 80% moisture. After cooking this moisture is lost, so the meat content is much lower than might be represented on the ingredient list.

The next ingredient is lamb meal. Lamb meal contains around three times the protein of lamb. Lamb meal is also a good source of Vitamins A, B6, and B12 as well as Riboflavin, Niacin, Phosphorous, Manganese, Iron, Zinc, Copper and Selenium. Lamb has a lot of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids that are necessary for a quality life

The third ingredient is sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are a gluten free source of carbohydrates, and are naturally rich in potassium, B Vitamins, dietary fiber, and beta carotene.

The fourth ingredient is peas. Peas provide a good supply of protein and dietary fiber. They also are a natural source for vitamins C and K. However, some dogs experience problems digesting peas because of the fibrous cellulose contained in the peas..

The fifth ingredient is chickpeas. Chickpeas, or Garbanzo Beans, are part of the fiber-rich legume family of vegetables, like peas and lentils. These beans also are a good source for lecithin, pottassium, and Vitamins A, B, and C.

Other ingredients of note in Canidae Grain Free Pure Land with Fresh Bison
