Raw Dog Food Recipes

So you are convinced that a raw dog food diet is right for your dog, but wonder where to start. A good, well-balanced raw dog food recipe should be able to provide the right amount of what the dogs need without any junk. At the same time, varying the meal from day to day will result in your dog enjoying feeding time that much more.

When preparing raw dog food, it is extremely important that you handle your frozen raw dog food very carefully. Wash your hands after preparing the raw meat and poultry, and clean all the utensils and the kitchen slab with the appropriate cleaner after use.

I have provided a few recipes for well balanced, nutritious raw dog food meals. You should allow both a variety of flavors to your dog, and a variet of types of meats used.

Red Meat With a Twist

  • 3/4 pound Raw Beef - cut into small chunks (not ground)
  • 1 raw egg
  • 1/2 clove garlic - chopped
  • 2 tablespoons yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon flax seed oil
  • 1 teaspoon alfalfa powder

Mix together and serve.

A note on the use of garlic. Large amounts of garlic can be harmful to your dog...but that is extremely large quantities of garlic (like 50 cloves or more at one sitting). Garlic in your dogs diet actually has many benefits, including being an excellent flea and tick repellant, strengthening your dogs immune system, being a strong antioxident, and more. Garlic in small portions is highly recommended, but if you just can't take the chance, feel free to omit it.

Vegetables and Raw Meat

  • One half cup raw meat such as beef, ground poultry, organs meats or lamb
  • One half cup pureed raw vegetables
  • 1/4 cup whole grains
  • one tsp bonemeal powder
  • 1/4th tsp ascorbic acid
  • 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp kelp powder
  • one tsp oil mixture (11 oz canola oil, 2 oz flax oil, 2 oz wheat germ oil)

Mix throroughly and serve.

In this raw dog food recipe, some people increase the quantity of vegetables and meat and reduce the quantity of whole grains. If the vegetables are not pureed, they will be excreted undigested.

RANDOM QUOTE
Dogs have given us their absolute all. We are the center of their universe. We are the focus of their love and faith and trust. They serve us in return for scraps. It is without a doubt the best deal man has ever made.
