Francisvale Home for Smaller Animals

The story of Francisvale started in Philadelphia on a stormy, cold, wintry night in 1897. That night, Dr. and Mrs. George McClellan were riding in their carriage to the theatre when they noticed a shivering puppy huddled under a snow bank by the side of the road. They adopted the dog on the spot and named him Francis. Francisvale's mission is a no kill shelter, accepting adoptable cats and dogs, providing loving care while looking for permanent homes

Gateway Humane Society

The Gateway Humane Society is an old but new organization. Over twenty-five years ago a group of men and women came together to form the society. Back then, they took in and cared for animals in their homes until their dreams of building a proper facility could be reached. In 2006 a modern shelter was built with two dog run areas that can house up to thirty-two dogs and two cat rooms that can house a minimum of fourteen cats at a time.

Home At Last Dog Rescue

The goal of Home at Last is to save the lives of homeless dogs suffering in high-kill shelters, as well as owner-surrender dogs who need to be re-homed due to unfortunate circumstances. We are not a shelter. We pull dogs from various shelters and provide foster homes until they are adopted. In doing so, we hope to provide an alternative to the purchase of puppy mill and pet store dogs, thereby reducing the demand for, and ultimately, the supply of, such dogs.

Random Dog Quote

Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are god. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods.
Christopher Hitchens
